To subtract from a selection in Illustrator, first select the objects you want to subtract. Then use the Subtract tool (A) to create the subtraction.
In Illustrator, you subtract vectors by using the subtract vector icon on the vector toolbar.
There are a few ways to subtract multiple objects in Illustrator. One way is to use the Subtract command from the Object menu. This will allow you to select the objects you want to subtract, and then press the Subtract button (minus sign). Another way is to use the Pathfinder panel. To do this, first, select the objects you want to subtract, and then click on the Pathfinder icon (the three lines).
The Minus Front tool is located in the Paths panel.
To subtract from a selection, you first need to select the object or objects you want to subtract. Next, use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+ minus (on a PC, Command+Shift+ minus).
Select the object you would like to subtract and then click the Subtract button located in the Pathfinder panel.
In Illustrator, you can minus a stroke from a shape by selecting the shape and then clicking the Minus Stroke button ( ).
To use minus front, you add – before the number. For example, 3- means “three minus one.
The pathfinder tool is located in the lower-left corner of the Illustrator workspace.
In Photoshop, you can subtract shapes by first selecting the shape you want to subtract from the other shape, and then clicking on the “Subtract” button (or press Ctrl+T).
