WARNING: This video contains SPOILERS for Logan

-

Popular YouTube channel How it Should Have Ended has finally unveiled their parody for this year’s hit Logan. The film saw returning writer and director James Mangold - whose last film came in the form of the 2013 predecessor The Wolverine - turn in one of the best-received installments in the X-Men movie series that raked in a grand total of $500 million at the box office worldwide. Ostensibly a standalone production focusing on an aging Hugh Jackman as fan favorite superhero Wolverine, Mangold provided for what will undoubtedly be one of the most remembered and iconic superhero movies of the past few years.

Fans of the character and film series came out in droves to see Logan following its initial theatrical release just last month, and Mangold and Jackman are a big part of why the movie managed to draw such a large crowd. On that note, the folks behind the notorious web series How It Should Have Ended have just released a new animated short parodying Jackman’s supposedly final turn as Wolverine - in addition to a few well aimed jabs at his lead role in the 2012 movie musical adaptation of Les Miserables.

In the video featured above, How It Should Have Ended provides for another hilarious take on another blockbuster phenomenon, as all of the taut drama and explicit violence featured front and center in Logan is upended in a musical parody that takes direct inspiration from Jackman’s turn in Les Miserables. Calling attention to the strained nature of the X-Men feature franchise - as well as the seeming ridiculousness that is the generational inevitability of Wolverine being recast in future installments - Logan is given the full HISHE treatment.

Harking back to each and every turn that the X-Men feature franchise has taken thus far, the above video parody of Logan should serve to a bring a smile to the face of the movie’s most die-hard fans. Jackman may be taking a bow to the role of Wolverine, but that doesn’t mean we’ve seen the last of the character in the surrounding series of movies - as the brief cameo from Wade Wilson of Deadpool makes abundantly apparent and hilarious in the video’s post-credits scene.

Logan was truly an exceptional motion picture production that, as Mangold derisively stated, was far more than a 120-minute long tentpole film. As fans of Jackman’s tenure in the role of Wolverine continue to mourn his departure from the larger franchise, this latest video parody from How It Should Have Ended will serve as a more than fitting eulogy to the actor’s presumed-to-be final on-screen performance as the character.
