Instagram accounts are not deleted immediately. They are deleted when the account owner deletes it themselves or if Instagram decides to delete it for violating their terms of service.
It is possible that your account was not deleted. If you are logged in to your account, you can click the gear icon at the top right of the screen and select “log out.” This will log you out of your account. Once logged out, try deleting it again.

To delete a deleted Instagram account from the drop down, you need to log into your account and click on the gear icon in the top right corner of the screen. From there, select “Settings” and then “Deactivate Your Account.” This will remove it from the drop down.
Unfortunately, there is no way to permanently delete your ID. You can, however, deactivate it so that it will not show up in search results.
You can keep your Instagram account deactivated for 2021.
