Speaking with The Chris Evans Breakfast Show show (via The Independent), the Fleabag star revealed some details behind her work on Bond 25. Waller-Bridge talked about how months before being asked to work on the project by producer Barbara Broccoli, she had dreamt of getting the chance to be part of the franchise. The writer also explained her involvement with the script, which was written by Neal Purvis, Robert Wade, and the film’s director Cary Joji Fukunaga. “They did give me some scenes and then be like, can you write some alternatives for this or have another idea about where it could go in the middle or how it would end,” Waller-Bridge said. “And then I would just give them options and various scenes, and then they would take what they want.” Ultimately, she found the whole experience to be very inclusive, resulting in a combination of everyone’s ideas and input.

The film had some early creative troubles, with Fukunaga replacing Danny Boyle as director. The movie is set to be Daniel Craig’s final farewell to the character of Bond and is scheduled to hit US theaters on April 10th of this year. Reports have already attached Phoebe Waller-Bridge to continuing her writing efforts with Bond 26.

Considering the comedic nature of her most famous project, Fleabag, some may question Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s involvement in a James Bond production. Killing Eve, however, proves she also has dramatic chops when it comes to writing. She’s never concentrated those talents on film, and it will be interesting to see if she can seamlessly make the jump from television to features. Regardless of the quality of No Time to Die, the script for the film is an amalgamation of many different opinions and creative talents, making Waller-Bridge’s contributions hard to recognize. Still, adding an Emmy award-winning writer to the film’s creative team is never a bad move. We can look forward to finding out exactly how much Waller-Bridge influenced the script when No Time to Die gets released later this spring.
